Dear Saints:
In the Warrior Soul: 5 Powerful Principles to Make You a Stronger Man of God, authors Jerry Boykin & Stu Weber liken spiritual warfare to several fronts when they state:
“Sometimes war is external, waged with guns and bullets; sometimes it’s political, fought over principles and philosophies, sometimes it’s internal, against temptations and desires. But whether external or internal, it’s always – always, always, always – spiritual at its core.”
What the authors are trying to say is that everything, and I mean everything, is spiritual! We are spiritual beings living in a fallen world with a loving Heavenly Father who is wanting our attention. The Bible states in the King James in Ephesians 6:12:
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. God does fight our battles for us, and he asks us to pray in accordance with His Word to ask God to set in motion what we need.
Key Verses on Spiritual Warfare:
- Ephesians 6:10–13 — The Armor of God – “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil… For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against… the spiritual forces of evil.”
- 2 Corinthians 10:3–5 — Divine Weapons – “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh… the weapons of our warfare… have divine power to destroy strongholds.”
- James 4:7 — Resist the Devil – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Approaching prayer with intentionality around the biblical principles of spiritual warfare enables God to step in and do what only He can do!
- Listen and reflect: Spend time understanding God’s perspective on Spiritual Warfare
- Share emotions: Express our feelings and emotions in a healthy way in prayer knowing its God’s battle and our role is to pray.
- Grow character: Shift the focus from it’s my battle to its God’s battle!
Thanks for your prayers,
