Securing the Future: Fence Wall Project Brings Protection and Peace to Hearts of the Father Outreach1

For nearly 30 years, Hearts of the Father Outreach in Old Ningo, Ghana, has stood as a refuge for vulnerable, needy, and orphaned children. On more than nine acres of land, the orphanage and the HFO School of Arts and Technology have provided education, shelter, and hope to hundreds of children.

Yet for three decades, one major need remained unmet — the entire property had no protective fence wall.

Years of Exposure and Challenges

Without a perimeter fence, the orphanage and school faced numerous challenges. Intruders could easily access the compound at any time of day or night. There were incidents of theft and unauthorized entry, creating insecurity for both staff and children.

Stray animals such as goats, dogs, and cattle frequently wandered onto the property, disrupting classes and damaging the grounds. Even more concerning, motor riders often used portions of the facility as a shortcut road, endangering the safety of children at play and during school hours.

The lack of a fence meant constant vigilance. Staff members had to monitor movement across the land instead of focusing fully on caregiving and teaching. For the children — many of whom had already experienced instability in life — the absence of a secure boundary added another layer of vulnerability.

A Timely Intervention of Generosity

Today, that story has changed. Through the benevolence and financial support of Mr. and Mrs. Moritz and their dedicated Board Members, the construction of a protective fence wall around the orphanage property has become a reality.

This generous donation has secured more than nine acres of land, marking a historic milestone in the life of Hearts of the Father Outreach.
